Join us in a show of support for the transgender community of NYC. We will be joined by members of the ESPA who can provide more insight into the reality of what being transgender means in NY and what ESPA is doing to help make a change.
"All New Yorkers should be treated fairly and equally by the laws of our state. However, transgender New Yorkers are left unprotected without a statewide law. People are losing their jobs, being refused treatment in hospitals, and even being evicted from their homes simply because they are transgender. All New Yorkers should have the opportunity to provide for their families and have a roof over their heads.
With one out of every three transgender New Yorkers having been homeless at one time, two out of every three experiencing discrimination at work, and nearly 30% having faced a serious physical or sexual assault, this is a life or death issue that our state cannot afford to ignore." - www.prideagenda.org
We are excited to welcome Eoghann Renfroe, Transgender Rights Organizer, and Melissa Sklarz, board member of the ESPA, to our event! They will be speaking about the transgender community's experience in NY and ways you can help their organization continue to fight for equal rights for all New Yorkers!
